3-In-One Oil

Low cost light oil useful for many things in shop. I mainly use it to inhibit rust on hand tools when I need to store them for long periods. Works very well for that application.

Terrible Plastic Can

When I first bought this in a plastic can I thought it’d be good (the tin ones were sometimes a little temperamental when lees than half full). Does the manufacturer not test the new plastic can before imposing it on old loyal customers?The first leaked everywhere and I thought I was unlucky and bought another. The tops do not function properly and are crazy hard to get on and off before they split. And the flow rate is totally uncontrollable. I’m now looking to buy and old fashioned oil can to dispense what I have left into. I had used this brand for many years but will not be buying 3-in1 again.

A great lubricant and multi-purpose oil!

This is a great lubricant that works on most products, especially moving parts. I use it to clean, lubricate, and prevent rust on all blades, saws, and trimmers...cutting tools for outside landscaping, mainly. This stuff works great to lubricate, penetrate rust, prevent rust, and clean...just as the front of the bottle reads! Using this will help keep your tools, parts, etc., in great condition. I’m no expert, but I do know that using this stuff is easy, and it lengthens the life of my tools...which in turn, saves me lots of money!

without knowing or understanding the chemical composition of this oil. I can compare it to the same name oil and after my initial purchase over 11 years ago, it has maintain its composition for oiling doors hinges etc. without braking down to this day. I recommend this product.

Awesome oil

My dad brought this oil from work a while ago he works at a recycling company and he gave me this oil and have had it for year and half and it's an old school tin can bottle and I see now theirs no more tin bottles out their. I do hope I soon see the tin bottles again. With great quality comes great packaging. I have bought the new oil bottle with the extendable straw but my oil continues to leak out the side. I love this product always will but I want to see the metal bottles again like this one

Oil good/bottle empty for second use?

I purchased oil and used it on my houses door hinges. Put it in the garage with all my other chemicals. Next time I went to use it it was almost completely empty. It had bled out all over making a mess and dust had accumulated in the mess. See pics. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

Super Oil

I have so many users, from cleaning and lubricating my tools to my favorite thing. Keeping my shop fan running. I've had this fan for years and the original lube failed which caused the fan to overheat and freeze up. I put a couple of drops on the fan shaft and have it a turn and it's as good as new. I have had this fan about 10 years because this Super oil keeps it running like new.

Classic Performance

Looking through the Utube comparison reviews for 1095 high carbon steel corrosion protection and was delighted to see 3 in One oil holding it's own against the latest high tech and super expensive anti corrosion products. It's really inexpensive, and available locally unlike all the latest super stuff. I really don't care if the can could be better, for the price and performance, it's really easy to place into another dispenser if required. The canadian version container is pretty good anyway. An Altoids sized dispenser would be nice... make it look like a vintage metal 3 in one container. Would become a classic.I was shocked to find out 3 in One oil had anything to do with wd40, as the performance difference between the two products is substantial. On a positive note, at least the wd40 guys recognized a good thing when they saw it ??? There might be a bunch of stories around this.

Old-School Solution For High-Tech Applications!

3-in-One Oil -- Useful In High Tech Applications!I've always used 3-in-One to fix sewing machines for my friends... and to keep my air-tools ticking over. It keeps the bearings happy and when it atomizes it leaves a rather pleasant smell.I ran into a situation where one of our sprue-picking robots at a plastic molding factory bound up. I cleaned it with WD-40 then treated the bearings with 3-in-One. Robot is still screaming along. I've been to other plastic factories since then and always specify 3-in-One for robotic applications. It keeps the bearings sliding, does not react to resin fumes coming off the mold and is easy to clean and re-apply.Finally, I started using it in my home-workshop. Works great on my Shurline CNC lathe and mill -- the servos are over 15 years old at this point and still as accurate as day one. A couple drops keeps the spindles happy, and the the ballscrews show little wear.The real kicker though was using it in my 3D printers and filament extruders. Yes it works great to keep the mechanical motions smooth... but I found a couple drops in the hot-end of the extruder helps break up carbon-buildup and acts as a purging agent. Same thing with my filament-making extruder -- couple drops mixed with my regular purge agent blasts all the crud from the barrel. Best part is 3-in-One does not stink like other oils when hot! I wouldn't want to breath it in (use proper PPE and ventilation) but at least I am not offending the Female Creature who shares my living-quarters when I use it.

I have a very old can of this stuff

And if the new can has the same stuff in it...you need this .it was used on singer sewing machines way back when.and i have used it on guns for years.glad to see a good product still on the market.The guy above me with his lid issues ..Needs to be smarter than the lid ;-)

Great stuff for Guitars

I have been using 3 in 1 oil for years around the house and also on all my Guitars for all the string to metal contact points and also to keep my vintage Fender tremolo working smooth Fender recommends 3 in 1 oil for there Guitars Works for Me :-)

does anyone not have a can of this?

I'm a handyman sort of guy. I use this as honing oil when sharpening yard tools, cleaning wrenches after a job (applied to a rag), lubricating shears (particularly hedge clippers) of all sizes types, lubricating hinges.My Grandfather was in the hardware business. My father always had a can handy.

LEGACY APPLICATOR FAR BETTER

Although the quality of the oil remains compared to previous metal applicator/can the plastic container/applicator is TERRIBLE. No matter how used too much oil is dispensed, targeting desired location is difficult and container contamination is rampant.

I was at a local hardware store and thought I would pick up a small container of 3-IN-One oil to have handy in my home. They didn't have any! What how could a hardware store not carry 3-IN-One oil? I got on Home Depot.com, ordered the 3-IN-One oil along with a few other items. Home Depot processed the order quickly and sent it right to my door...THANKS!

My walker was stuck open. I could not fold it to get into the car. So I left it at home and drove to Home Depot to get 3 in 1 oil. A couple of drops on each of the end hinges and some on the center hinge of each leg did the trick. Home Depot has lots of wheelchair carts, so I could get around easily. It more than met my expectations because now I can get the walker into the trunk and because the store is accessible, I wasn't afraid to go get it.

Had a sticky lock and this loosen it.

Really miss the old tin! DO NOT cut tip off as directed, you'll end up making a huge mess.. carefully poke a hole in the tip with either a thumb tack or push pin. You'll get far better control of how much comes out.
